Air Jordan 14: Last Dance Ferrari Style

Let's go back to 1998. The Air Jordan 14 hits the court – the last signature shoe worn by Michael Jordan as a Bull. The legendary Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith were behind the design. This isn't just any shoe, it's a piece of history. Remember that moment? The '98 NBA Finals, Game 6, Utah Jazz. MJ is wearing the AJ14 when he hits that famous "Last Shot," sealing his sixth championship. Chills!

What makes this model so amazing? Inspiration. Tinker knew MJ loved fast cars, so he based the design on his favorite Ferrari 550 Maranello . It's evident in every detail—the sleek, aerodynamic silhouette, the air intakes, and that distinctive Jumpman shield logo, which looks like the hood emblem of an Italian supercar. It's a fusion of basketball and luxury automotive style .

Since '98, the "Fourteens" have been returning regularly, maintaining their form. November 2024 brought us the classic Black Toe, and 2025 and 2026 are set for further releases, including the Ferrari and Stealth. Thanks to these drops and collaborations with the world of high fashion, the AJ14 remains a staple – both on the pitch and on the streets.

This shoe marked the end of a chapter. It symbolized the end of Jordan's era in Chicago, but also the beginning of a new era where sport meets luxury.

What's under the hood? AJ14 technology

The Air Jordan 14 isn't just about looks. Inside, it features dual Zoom Air units (front and rear) for responsiveness and protection. Plus, a low-profile Phylon foam sole delivers incredible court feel. You're close to the ground, yet still cushioned.

The distinctive low collar gives your ankles room to move, but don't worry – the enlarged TPU plate in the midfoot keeps your foot in check during quick turns. Stability is top-notch.

The most recognizable element? Those foam teeth on the midsole. They look aggressive and provide lateral support. And to keep your foot from getting too hot, the sole features mesh ventilation holes—inspired by car air vents.

The materials are classy. Leather uppers, synthetic nubuck accents, and retro suede give it a luxurious vibe. And the icing on the cake is the Jumpman shield emblem on the side. It's this detail that makes the AJ14 look like an F1 car on your feet.

Colors and materials used in the Air Jordan 14

The king of the crop is, of course, the Last Shot (black and red) colorway —the holy grail of every MJ fan. But we also have other gems.

The Black Toe edition (white, red, black) is a classic, returning in full glory in 2024 with premium leather. And for 2025, a Ferrari colorway arrives – all suede in Challenge Red. It looks fast even when sitting on the shelf.

Other strong positions:

  • Black/Infrared – deep black with neon accents.
  • Stealth (2024) – gray, subdued, elegant.
  • Hyper Royal – for blue fans.

Also on the horizon is Forest Green (Holiday 2026) and something special – a collaboration with Mowalola (Fall 2026). Burnt Red, suede, gold details... It's going to be fire!

Previously, we've had brilliant collaborations with CLOT (inspired by the Terracotta Army) and Aleali May. Materials? Typically, genuine leather uppers , suede, nubuck, and in premium versions, even carbon fiber inserts. It's quality you can feel.

Fit, sizing and durability

The good news: The Air Jordan 14 typically fits True to Size (TTS) . If you have a normal foot, go with your regular size. Wide feet? Consider 0.5 sizes up. Remember, the leather upper stretches and molds to your foot.

The low-profile design provides excellent stability, although some complain about a loose heel (heel slip). However, the lateral support is solid.

And what about durability? Beware of the toebox peeling and the foam teeth creasing – these are common complaints of this model during intense play. The durability of the nubuck also varies, sometimes flaking on the collar. Suede uppers require love and waterproofing to prevent fading. But let's be honest – these shoes are made to be taken care of!

Cultural legend and hype

In sneaker culture, the AJ14 is an icon. It's all because of that "Last Throw." It makes this shoe a symbol of Michael Jordan's excellence and legacy . In Jordan's archive, the "14s" are rarer than the "1s" or "4s," which only increases their value as collectors' items on the resale market .

The innovative design of this model demonstrated that a basketball shoe could be luxurious. This opened the door for today's luxury sneakers . Collaborations with CLOT and Aleali May have brought this model to high fashion .

And the upcoming collaboration with Mowalola ? A heelless version of the mule? That's going to be crazy! The AJ14 is evolving, but it still has the DNA of a champion. Whether you're a vintage collector, a competitive basketball player, or a streetwear fan, the Air Jordan 14 has a place in your closet.
