Nike and Dutch brand Patta are teaming up again for a new iteration of their legendary collaboration in spring 2026: the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 '87 Waves Pack. This is a continuation of one of the most recognizable designs in Air Max 1 history, which has gained iconic status since its debut in 2021-2022 thanks to its unique wave-like mudguard around the upper, setting the sneaker apart from other collaborations.
Patta is one of Europe's most respected streetwear brands, which began not as a business, but as a sneaker initiative within the Amsterdam hip-hop community. Founded in 2004 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt, the brand grew out of a passion for music culture, sneakers, and street style—the name Patta itself comes from the Surinamese slang for "shoe," a nod to the founders' roots.
Over time, Patta has evolved from a small boutique into a global streetwear icon whose designs and collaborations set trends in streetwear. The brand is known for legendary collaborations with Nike , ASICS , Converse , Reebok , and others, and sneakers like the various Patta x Nike Air Max 1 and Patta x Air Jordan 7 releases are now coveted by collectors worldwide.
This combination of authentic roots in hip-hop culture, creativity, and the ability to blend local influences with global trends makes Patta more than just a clothing brand—it's a cultural reference point in the world of streetwear, and its collaborations with Nike are among the most anticipated drops of the season.
The new pack consists of two color variants based around the energetic Hyper Crimson shade:
- one pair features a Pure Platinum base with a bold crimson wave and black Swoosh,
- the second pairs brighter shades of white and platinum with an orange Swoosh, both emphasizing the dynamics and contrasts seen in previous Waves.
These aesthetic tributes not only to sneaker design but also to culture and identity—including the Dutch football scene, whose hues and energy are reflected in the color palette. The design also remains personal thanks to a detail in the box: each pair includes a gold bracelet with Nike branding and the Surinamese flag, referencing the roots of Patta founders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt, adding narrative context to this collaboration.
As one of the most recognizable Air Max 1 designs in recent years, this pack shows how Patta and Nike have consistently developed their vision – returning to the classics, but with elements that give the sneakers a freshness that many fans appreciate.
